Jiva Hill Stables rolls out the red carpet for European dressage

FEI Dressage European Championship – Crozet (FRA) – August 27 to 31, 2025

In less than a week, Europe’s dressage elite will gather at the stunning Jiva Hill Stables in Crozet. For the very first time, France will host the FEI Dressage European Championship. While Great Britain, Germany and Denmark enter as the favourites, the 18 other competing nations are determined to shake things up.

The world’s top ten riders in the FEI rankings will be at Jiva Hill Stables from August 27 to 31. The three European titles at stake will be fiercely contested, starting with World No. 2 and multiple medalist, Germany’s Isabell Werth. Will she benefit from her experience on home ground, after competing in last year’s CDI 5*? Her horse Wendy de Fontaine will be present, as will Bluetooth , the gelding of her compatriot Frederic Wandres, team gold medalist in Paris.

Great Britain, for its part, will line up its 2024 Olympic team with World No. 1 Charlotte Fry and her striking black stallion Glamourdale , Carl Hester with Fame , and Becky Moody with Jagerbomb . Andrew Gould and Indigro will round out the squad. Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, team silver medalist at the Paris Olympics, will also enter the Jiva Hill Stables arena with her mare Mount St John Freestyle . Her compatriot Andreas Helgstrand will likewise be competing, partnered with Jovian , with whom he claimed team bronze at the last European Championships.

Eyes on Belgium’s Justin Verboomen
Among the competitors to watch closely is Belgium’s Justin Verboomen with his stallion Zonik Plus . Ranked third in the FEI world standings, he will be eager to confirm his victories in the Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle at Aachen last July. The French squad will feature Alexandre Ayache, a regular at Jiva Hill Stables’ CDI 5*, ridingRuling Olivia . He will be joined by Pauline Basquin with Sertorius de Rima Z , Bertrand Liegard with Ginger , and Anne-Sophie Serre with Jibraltar de Massa.

With such a line-up, everything is set for a fiercely competitive European championship, where elegance, precision, and discipline will be the watchwords. The program begins with the team event, held over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the Grand Prix Special on Friday for the top 30 pairs, and culminating on Sunday with the Grand Prix Freestyle, which will crown one of the 18 best combinations in the championship.

Shows and entertainment on the rest day
On Saturday, the rest day, families will be welcomed free of charge from 10 am in the exhibitors’ village. More than twenty stands will be on hand, offering children’s activities and food stalls in the enchanting setting of Jiva Hill Stables. In the evening, two shows are on the program: a prestigious performance by the famous Cadre Noir of Saumur, followed by an aerial acrobatics display by the Deus Ex Machina Company, featuring a giant articulated sphere hanging more than 15 meters above the ground, around which the artists will perform.

Competition and entertainment will blend seamlessly at Jiva Hill Stables. The event will appeal both to dedicated dressage enthusiasts and to those discovering the discipline in an exceptional setting. The date is set: August 27–31 for the FEI Dressage European Championship.
